IEEE Madras Section Hub Congress – Coimbatore was held in Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore on 18th March 2023 at 09.00 am in the Convention Center.

Dr. K. Porkumaran, Chairman, IEEE Madras Section welcomed the gathering and Dr. R. Hariprakash, Secretary, IEEE Madras Section briefed the gathering about the significance of IEEE Madras Section Hub Congress.

Dr. J. Janet, Principal, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology delivered the felicitation address and motivated the participants to rightly assimilate knowledge, channelize their ideas and explore cutting-edge technologies  that will shape the future of our field. Dr. S. Radha, Treasurer, IEEE Madras Section introduced the eminent speakers of this event. Shri. Tom Coughlin, 2023 IEEE President-Elect. delivered the presidential address and gave the insights of the importance of IEEE membership and the madras section. Dr. Chun Che Lance Fung, Director, IEEE Region 10, Emeritus Professor, Murdoch University delivered the inaugural address of this congress and spoke on the importance and benefits of IEEE membership and the plethora of activities planned under IEEE.

Dr. S. Joseph Gladwin, Vice Chairman – Industry, IEEE Madras Section introduced the chief guest of the event.

Commodore. B Balasundaram, Director, Centre for Indigenisation and Self Reliance CISR, Indian Navy, Govt. of India delivered the chief guest address. In his address, he proudly stated that the Indian Navy has responded effectively to the clarion call of our Hon’ble Prime Minister for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and have successfully built indigenous warships like INS Vikrant. More than 250 young and energetic students participated in this event to enhance their knowledge and to explore the opportunities available. He addressed about the Defence innovation organization and the DISC level events.

Dr. S. Brindha, IEEE Madras Section SAC, Sub-Committee Chair proposed the vote of thanks for the Inaugural Ceremony.During the day, several eminent personalities enlightened the gathering on various topics. Special panel discussions were held for IEEE Young Professionals and IEEE Women in Engineering.  Team of people like Mr.Maharajan, L M Maria Shirley John, Ms. Manju, Mr.Balasai, Mr.Niranjan Kumar, Mr. Adithiya, Mr.Alwyn Samuel, Mr.Harry Jakin S Volunteered Ice Breaker and Activity. Dr.S.Brindha, IEEE Madras Section SAC, Sub-Committee Chair addressed the gathering and unveiling the IEEE potential.

Dr.Takako Hashimoto, IEEE R10 Director Elect, Vice President, ChibaUniversity of Commerce, Japan shared the main idea and seven habbits to develop global career.

Mr. Pramod Kumar P, Manager – Education, IEEE India shared their views on IEEE blended learning program and other educational initiatives.

Dr. D. Nirmal, Ex-Com Member, IEEE Madras Section, gave the insights for the students on the IEEE Awards & Scholarships Recognize Outstanding Achievements. 4 Best IEEE Student Branch Practices and Activities Moderator – Mr. M. Arun, Ex-Com Member, IEEE Madras Section Dr.Jayarama Pradeep V R, Exe-Com Member IEEE WIE, MAS Prof. & Head EEE, st. Joseph’s College of Engineering gave their thoughts and views on Best Practices for IEEE Student Branch Interactions. Team of people includes Dr. S. Sasikala,Associate Professor, Kumaraguru College of TechnologyDr. S.K.UmaMaheswaran,Professor – MathematicsCoordinator | Unnat Bharath Abhiyan (UBA), Chapter Advisor, Senior member – IEEE SSIT SBC,Sri Sairam Engineering College Dr. Soma Prathibha, Associate Professor, IT, Sri Sairam EngineeringCollege, Vice-chair, IEEE MAS WIE Dr.Alagumeenaakshi M, Associate Professor, Kumaraguru College ofTechnology discussed the Empowering Communities through Technology: The Role of IEEE SIGHT & HAC.

There are three main sessions conducted. One was with the team of Mr. Ramesh Ananthavijayan,Technology Director, Automotive Steering,Bosch Global Software company, Coimbatore Dr. Divyanashu Verma, CEO,Redinent Innovations, a cyber security Start up, Co-Founder of Redinent Innovations and KareKeBa Investment Platform Mr.Navaneetha Krishnan, Chairman, IEEE, SSIT Madras Section Dr. S. Joseph Gladwin,Vice Chairman – Industry, IEEE MAS Moderator- Dr. Prashant R. Nair, Associate Professor, Vice-Chairman,Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, jointly shared their thoughts and views on the power of industry interaction towards the collaborating for success.

Prof. Dr. S.N. Sivanandam, Former Emeritus Professor, PSG College of technology, Coimbatore, addressed the gathering and shared his views on the importance and benefits of IEEE membership and Hub Congress. The Congress came to an end by 05.30 pm.
